Banteay Chhmar Temple

On a recent trip to Cambodia I visited the beautiful Banteay Chhmar Temple. One of Cambodia's less visited temples, in fact we were the only ones there.

The ruins were a symbol of humanities control over nature being reclaimed over the passing of time. Roots from the fast growing tropical trees were intertwined with the rocks so that they collapsed and supported each other simultaneously.

It was hard to imagine how the boulders had fallen, if it had been a sudden collapse or indiscernibly slow, perhaps they were still falling as we stood there?

The piles of fallen boulders was the inspiration for my crumbling temple ring
